AFC Wimbledon’ agree deal to sign senior goalkeeper from….

On-loan Sunderland goalkeeper Alex Bass tasted defeat for the first time against League Two side AFC Wimbledon as Stockport County ended the Dons’ unbeaten run early. Wimbledon took the lead after just half an hour through Josh Davison, but the Hatters came from behind to win just their second game of the season.

Louie Barry equalized for Stockport five minutes into the second half, and Will Collar completed the turnaround by scoring just after the hour mark. Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson said:
“We lost our way a little bit in the second half.
“There was a period when they scored two goals. In those moments, we did not manage our work well in defense. Two concentration errors cost us
Wimbledon have started the season on a six-match unbeaten run in the tournament, but Jackson said:
“We knew it was going to end at some point. It’s a credit to the boys that it lasted as long as it did.

“It’s easy when people pat you on the back and say good job, now we’re about to get our first butt kick. We have to use disappointment as fuel. The defeat leaves Wimbledon 11th in the table and their next match is against Crewe Alexandra at Plow Lane on Saturday. Wimbledon won the EFL Trophy last Tuesday by beating Stevenage 6-5 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw at the end of normal time, but Bass was an unused substitute for the match there.In League One, there is no action this weekend for on-loan Sunderland defender Joe Anderson, as Shrewsbury Town’s home game with Bolton Wanderers was postponed due to international call-ups for the Trotters. Shrewsbury are currently 14th in the table and their next match will be on Saturday, when Bristol Rovers visit New Meadow.

Shrews were involved in the EFL Trophy last week, losing 3-0 to Forest Green Rovers, but Anderson was an unused substitute. Elliot Embleton joined League One Derby County on deadline day but is yet to make his debut for the Rams.

He signed too late to feature in the 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers before the international break, and Derby’s home game with Northampton Town this weekend was postponed due to a call-up international.
