Leeds United’s trip to Millwall this weekend could see up to four players return to full fitness after the international break.
While supporters remain hopeful that the international break will pass without any injuries to key players, the prospect of those remaining at home regaining form is exciting. .
Leeds had a number of players leave Thorp Arch over the past week, while Daniel Farke continued to work with the remaining group.
Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas still have long-term injuries that are unlikely to return, but four players in Farke’s squad could be back soon.
That’s according to LeedsLive, as they outlined what was worrying Farke at the start of September, including players returning to the fold:“By the end of July, Farke had dealt with many of his injury problems to the other side of the first international break and here we are. Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas are unlikely to feature until the end of September, but Junior Firpo, Patrick Bamford, Daniel James and Sam Byram are players he can hope to rely on for the very near future.
Firpo has not played a football for Leeds since relegation, missing all of pre-season with a ligament problem, while Bamford was ruled out of the opening round of the tournament after suffering a hamstring injury at Hearts.
Byram sat out with a muscle problem during the trip to Ipswich Town, while James has not played since his star performance at home to West Brom.
Getting these four backs fit could be a huge boost to our team’s depth in multiple positions and Firpo could actually start.
He’s our only left-back at the moment and he could do very well in a possession-oriented Championship side.
Byram and James add much-needed depth in a number of positions, while Bamford will add competition to Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter up front.
