DONE DEAL: Reangers manager agree deal to join leicester city

Harry Souttar has addressed speculation linking him with a possible loan move from Leicester City to Rangers last month.

The towering central defender was wanted by Gers boss Michael Beale in a late swoop to further strengthen his backline at Ibrox. The move was made more realistic after new Foxes boss Enzo Maresca bombed Souttar out of his squad, leaving the Aussie’s future at the King Power Stadium in serious doubt.

However, Football Scotland informed you at the end of the window that Souttar’s hefty wages acted as a major stumbling block for Rangers, who may have been able to do a deal had they progressed into the Champions League group stage. For now, Souttar – brother of Gers centre-back John – will have to make do with sticking it out at Leicester at least until January.

He said: “It’s been tough. I think there were a lot of things mentioned in the press about going on loan.

“I am a Leicester player. I’m going to do everything in my power to try to get back into the squad.

“Obviously it’s the manager’s decision so all I can do is work hard and try to prove to him that I can get back in the squad
