The Town Under-18s bowed out of the Youth Alliance Cup at the second round stage at the weekend after going down 4-3 against Cambridge United.

In a closely fought tie, Tate Xavier-Jones, Jack Lorentzen-Jones and Charlie Emery were on target for Alex Lawless’ side.

There was also cup heartache for the Town Under-16s. Craig Alcock’s squad travelled down to the south coast on Saturday morning as they took on AFC Bournemouth in a knockout qualifier for the Premier League National Tournament. 

The game went to penalties after it had finished 2-2 after extra-time but the Cherries were the ones who progressed, winning the shootout 4-3. 

Both the Hatters’ Under-18s and Under-16s travel to Sutton United this coming weekend, both matches kicking off a 10.30am.  

  • Joe Taylor (Colchester United) – The 20-year-old continued his fine record in front of goal for the U’s, scoring his fifth goal in seven appearances in their 2-0 League 2 win over Tranmere. 
  • Jack Walton (Dundee United) – The goalkeeper kept a third successive clean sheet – and sixth in nine games – to help the Terrors to a 3-0 win over Dunfermline in a Scottish League Cup. 
  • Dion Pereira (Sutton United) – A 63rd-minute arrival from the substitutes’ bench saw the attacker make his debut for the League 2 side in their 5-3 defeat at Swindon. 

Development squad: 

  • Josh Allen (Chesham United) The forward came off the bench to help the Generals to a 3-1 win at Merthyr Town which kept them top of the Southern League Premier Division. 
  • Tyrelle Newton (Hemel Hempstead Town) – The midfielder played the full 90 minutes in the Tudors’ 1-1 draw at Worthing in National League South. 
  • Ben Tompkins (Braintree Town) – Another 90 minutes for the centre-half as the Iron were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Farnborough in National League South.  
  • Aidan Francis-Clarke (Dagenham & Redbridge) – The defender made his debut, playing 74 minutes in the Daggers’ 3-1 defeat at Chesterfield in the National League. 
  • Tobias Braney (Bishop’s Stortford) – The striker made his debut in the Blues’ 1-0 win at home to Darlington in National League North. 
  • The club have an initial allocation of 369 seats and 400 terrace places, with away season tickets not actioned for this fixture but can still book in the Season Card holder booking stage.

    All Season Card holders will be able to purchase two tickets per person online as of 3pm today, while from tomorrow, they will also be available over the phone and in person.

    Hatters Members can buy two tickets per person online from Wednesday, as they are available over the phone or in person on Thursday.

    Any remaining tickets will be available on Friday, online, over the phone and in person.
