Millwall may not be successful in the transfer market yet, with Andre Ayew now linked with a move to the club.
Despite the arrival of 10 players in the transfer window, United still have some clarity ahead.
And according to a report from TeamTalk, Ghanaian striker Ayew is being considered as an option.
Millwall boss Gary Rowett has made it clear that Danny McNamara will get a first-team opportunity despite the addition of Brooke Norton-Cuffy in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal defender Norton-Cuffy signed a season-long loan deal and started both matches in which he appeared. Lions academy product McNamara, 24, was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win over Stoke City and made his debut in the 75th minute in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham before the international armistice .
McNamara made 104 appearances for Millwall and was represented by the Republic of Ireland under-21s.
When asked about his playing prospects, Rowett told South London Press:
“If you look at our team, you have to have competition for places. You have to have good players to keep the jersey. If you don’t have that then you don’t have the right balance in your team. This means that occasionally you will have two very good players for the same position.
“For example, if you look at Brooke and Danny, they are both really, really good players. They have different properties.
“Brooke has started the last two games now but there will be games, and there will be times when Danny gets his chance again and he has to play well to stay in the team.
“Sometimes the outside world sees a player signing and thinks ‘Oh, that player will never play for the club again’. It doesn’t work like that. You have to move forward as a club, a team and a manager to continue to strengthen the qualities you want in your team.
“It is up to these players to win the competition. We have very good players, especially in this position.
