After leaving the Latics, Ryan Nyambe is still looking for a new team, and their fierce rivals may pounce on him to fill a gap.

Bolton Wanderers was considered one of the favorites to contend for the automatic League One promotion berths this season after missing out on promotion through the EFL play-offs the previous campaign.

Will Forrester, Nathan Baxter, Carlos Mendes Gomes, and Josh Dacres-Cogley were among the clever but non-aggressive recruits made by the Trotters, who also converted Dan Nlundulu’s loan from Southampton into a permanent contract.

Manager Ian Evatt also looked into the loan market, bringing in both Zac Ashworth and Paris Maghoma to give his team more depth.

With four victories, a tie, and a loss, they are second in the table and off to a great start. Their most recent victory was a 2-1 triumph over fellow promotion candidates (on paper) Derby County.
With the EFL Trophy, the league, and soon the FA Cup to contend with, Evatt may lack some depth in key positions, particularly in defense, when analyzing the Bolton roster.

Given that Gethin Jones is preferred on the right side of a back three, the right side of the back line in particular may need to be addressed. Josh Dacres-Cogley is the only viable wing-back option for Bolton.Even though Will Forrester and Eoin Toal are both right-footers, they could both replace Jack Iredale on the left side.

Naturally, it would be ideal for Evatt to sign a player who can play both wingback and in a back three, and Ryan Nyambe, who spent last season on the roster of Bolton’s fiercest rivals Wigan Athletic, might be a wonderful choice.

Describe Ryan Nyambe.

Born in Namibia, an African nation, Nyambe immigrated to England when he was 10 years old and three years later enrolled in Blackburn’s academy.

Nyambe made his first team debut at the age of 17 and played 201 times for the club over the course of seven years. While he didn’t contribute many assists or much of a goal threat from full-back, he was a willing runner up and down the field and was very quick and agile.

When his contract at Ewood Park expired last summer, Nyambe instead signed a one-year agreement with Championship rivals Wigan. While playing for the Latics, he played right back, wing back, center back, and occasionally left back as well.

However, despite making 32 league games, Nyambe ultimately was unable to prevent Wigan from being demoted to League One and left the club this past summer when his contract expired. He has yet to sign with a new team.

Nyambe’s ability to give protection in areas where Evatt needs it most makes him a valuable addition to the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Nyambe doesn’t exactly have a stellar goal contribution record, but in games where Evatt may need to be more solid defensively, the Namibian would provide something different. The wing-back position is more frequently needed for cover than most.

Nyambe also has a ton of experience at the Championship level, but considering he is still without a club, dropping down to League One isn’t so absurd.

The 25-year-old could theoretically be signed by a Championship team, but joining a League One team that is actively vying for promotion is just as advantageous as doing the same for an English second tier team.

Evatt may strive to improve that section of the field, but whether or not he does, Nyambe must be the top target despite his brief affiliation with Wigan.
