The former Man United legend has already signed a contract to serve as coach for Rangers. possible agreement for replacement after five years

Felix Magath claims he almost became Rangers manager before Steven Gerrard took the job.

The legendary German owner has been a shareholder of club Ibrox since 2014, when he bought a 1% stake in a total of 810,000 shares when the club was relegated to the lower leagues of Scottish football. He has been following them closely ever since and Magath, whose illustrious career has seen him lead Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and Fulham among many others, was even interviewed for coaching position in 2018.
Magath was unemployed after a short stint in China and said he held meetings with the board about the work before moving in different directions. He told the Scottish Sun:
“We met in London and discussed the possibilities. It was in 2018 and I was very interested. But like any negotiation with a club, everything has to go well. It is clear that there are different aspects of English football and unfortunately it has not worked out.
Magath also spoke of his cold decision to invest significant cash in club Ibrox to help them revive in tournaments. He say:
“I was so impressed with Rangers and so pleased with Scottish football that I decided to buy a stake in this club in 2014. I can’t believe Rangers have been relegated from the Premier League to fourth place.
“It’s an unbelievable situation but I’m sure Rangers will be back. It’s a big club, a big club and they will always come back where they should be. They have a lot of power in football – they have fans all over the world. This is a famous football club all over the world.

“For me, buying Rangers stock is a risk-free decision. I won’t say how many I have but I will keep them. Back then I wanted to help the club – and I’m not surprised they’re back in the top flight. Rangers have enjoyed success in Europe in recent years. They beat some big German clubs.
