Ty Bracey, an Aston Villa podcaster, is our official Aston Villa columnist. Each week, he will provide his thoughts on the most important topics at the club.

Ty Bracey believes that Clement Lenglet will be a welcome addition to Aston Villa but that he will only serve as “short-term” cover.

The Frenchman joined Villa from La Liga powerhouse Barcelona on a season-long loan deal with no obligation to buy, and was introduced alongside Villa’s sporting director Monchi on deadline day (1 September).

Despite making 26 league games while on loan to Tottenham last season, he struggled to make an impact on the team and was later judged surplus to needs at the Nou Camp. However, Unai Emery now has the chance to use him.
Lenglet, 28, has been predicted by Bracey to only be a “short-term” player despite being praised for his plethora of experience at the top level of the game and in European competition with Barca.

Moreover, it implies that Lenglet’s chances of staying at Villa Park beyond his loan period are slim.

According to Bracey, who spoke exclusively to Villa News, “It’s just another temporary cover at the back, but it’s good to have that there and someone who is proven at the highest level and in Europe.”Although he is coming in with a hefty salary, excellence comes at a cost. I’m content because having cover is always a good idea in these situations.

“I saw him at Barcelona, and it’s not at all a poor signing. Barcelona players don’t always get the results they want, but if you’re on their roster, you’re not going to be a horrible player, are you?Clement Lenglet: Barcelona defender joins Tottenham in season-long loan move | Football News | Sky Sports
