UPDATED NEWS: Celtic’s next two signings now look imminent.

After the announcement of Celtic’s move for Luis Palma, the club are now closing in on two more players who have already travelled or are due to travel to Glasgow.

Sky Sports report this afternoon that Nat Phillips has agreed terms on a loan until the January transfer window to help aid the Bhoys’ central defensive crisis, with the player believed to already be in Scotland.

It’s said that all parties will reassess Phillips’ situation in January when Celtic welcome back the injured Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh.

Meanwhile, Record in Portugal report that Paulo Bernardo is expected to fly into Glasgow today to put the finishing touches to his own move from Benfica – the structure of which has not yet been confirmed.

There’s still a chance the player arrives on a loan-to-buy deal in a similar manner to the initial agreement signed for Jota in the summer of 2021.

It’s doubtful that the Bhoys will pay big money for him outright before the end of the current transfer window.

Bernardo, 21, is a Portugal youth international and has been a highly rated prospect within the Benfica set-up for years, making 26 appearances in total and spending time out on loan in his homeland’s top-flight last term with Pacos de Ferreira.

With his chances of regular senior football with Benfica slim, he now has a chance to progress under Brendan Rodgers and find a home that values him, just like the winger who became such a hit with the Celtic support.

Both signings are positive steps and if completed today Celtic still have room for one or two more tomorrow before the window shuts until January. We were promised signings this week and so far the club are living up to that.

More needs done, so everyone will be working hard to make that happen and provide Rodgers with the squad he wants and needs for the challenges ahead.
