BREAKING NEWS: Aston Villa unlikely to sign striker after Cameron Archer departure as club must ‘not be stupid’ financially.

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Aston Villa are unlikely to bring in another striker this summer despite the agreed sale of Cameron Archer due to the club’s financial obligations, according to Ty Bracey.

Villa are to earn a hefty £18million from Sheffield United [Sky Sports] despite only playing 10 Premier League matches for the Villans. The 21-year-old built his reputation from successful goal-heavy loan spells with Preston North End and Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Following the agreement to sell their third-choice striker, many thought that Villa would remain active in the market for reinforcements, especially considering the club’s heavy schedule this season.

However, Bracey has mooted the need for another striker and notes how many players in the squad, including new signing Moussa Diaby, can fill in as a striker if needed which in turn helps Villa’s financial obligations.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I don’t think they’ll replace Archer. We’ve got Leon Bailey who can play up top, we’ve got Moussa Diaby, obviously Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran.

“So that’s four options up front. I think that’s why they’re bringing in another winger. But it just reassures fans that we’re doing the right things in the market and not being silly.

“We’re not being stupid, it’s massively important that we’re not being stupid.”
