Rangers FC supporters have been hit with emotional news as long-serving captain James Tavernier has revealed that he will leave the club at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Tavernier, who joined Rangers in 2015, brought an end to an incredible 11-year journey at Ibrox. During his time at the club, he became one of Rangers’ most recognisable leaders and was appointed captain in 2018.
The experienced right-back made more than 500 appearances for Rangers and played a major role during one of the most memorable periods in the club’s recent history. He helped Rangers win the Scottish Premiership in 2021 and the Scottish Cup in 2022, while also captaining the side during their remarkable run to the 2022 Europa League final.
Tavernier’s decision to leave represents the end of an era at Ibrox. For more than a decade, supporters watched him lead from the right side of the defence while also contributing an impressive number of goals.
