Leeds United are said to be interested in signing Nottingham Forest’s out-of-favour midfielder as Daniel Farke eyes midfield recruitments.

Leeds are in need of signings very quickly this week if they want to travel to 100%-starting Ipswich Town with a chance of upsetting the apple cart.

Daniel Farke’s squad desperately needs signings soon if he wants to be able to not only name a strong lineup, but have enough bodies to field a full bench too

Midfield is an area of concern for Leeds and Farke, with Archie Gray playing four sets of 90 minutes already this season at just 17-years-old, and while he’s impressed, it’s a lot to ask.

TEAMtalk are now reporting that the club have lodged an enquiry to Nottingham Forest over the availability of midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

Shelvey has not been present in either of Forest’s first two games in the Premier League this season, with Steve Cooper seemingly open to selling the 31-year-old

Shelvey is available for sale at the City Ground having been left out of the squad, following being reportedly frozen out at the end of last season after a ‘bust up’ with Cooper.

Leeds have a lot of first-hand experience of Shelvey’s better performances throughout his career, featuring five times against the Whites at Elland Road across four different clubs, scoring four goals – including a hattrick for Blackpool.

If we’re looking at Forest’s cast offs, Lewis O’Brien is right there and screaming to be signed.

He was shipped out on loan at DC United and shone next to Mateusz Klich in the MLS, and would be a top-end signing in the Championship, especially paired with Ethan Ampadu.

Shelvey would add good range of passing to our side, but his lack of mobility and defensive quality would really worry me in transition.

For the wages he’ll be on, and his age, there are far better options out there for us, including his teammate.

REAL MORE:

According to TEAMtalk, Shelvey is now in line for a move to Elland Road. Daniel Farke is keen to strengthen his side after losing Tyler Adams to Bournemouth over the weekend.

Shelvey signed for Forest on a free transfer during the January transfer window. Having not played much for Newcastle, it did seem a bit of a strange signing from the outset.

The experienced player made just eight appearances for the Reds. Shelvey didn’t play again for Forest after taking badly to being told he would be on the bench for a game against Liverpool at Anfield

It was uncertain whether or not, Shelvey would earn a reprieve during pre-season. However, Steve Cooper has stuck to his guns and banished him from training with the senior ranks.
