Leeds United are preparing to enter vital talks with Everton over the transfer of with a bid in the region of £40million likely in the coming days.
Leeds United are set to enter crucial talks with Everton for the sale of Wilfried Gnonto with a bid close to £30m expected in the next few days, according to Football Transfers.
The transfer outlet reported on its website on Monday (21 August) that the Whites are set to continue what will be crucial discussions with the Toffees in the coming days to reach a deal that will suit both parties.
Gnonto has been vocal in his desire to leave Elland Road this summer with the winger holding aspirations of being part of Italy’s squad for the 2024 European Championships but Leeds have been adamant the winger isn’t for sale at any price this summer.
Although Gnonto is a very talented player who is more than capable of having the ability to be that sort of player for Leeds throughout this upcoming season, it is increasingly clear he has no interest in spending a campaign in England’s second tier.
Farke can’t afford to have any passengers in his squad, especially not any that could have been sold for £30m and Leeds will be happier reinvesting that money elsewhere rather than having an uninterested Gnonto lining up for them after transfer deadline day.
Like the sale of Tyler Adams, those in charge at Leeds and the fans at Elland Road won’t be happy with how this transfer has occurred, with the 19-year-old going about the move in the completely wrong way. But if the Whites pocket that big a fee, it could be enough to make the crucial additions to bring them closer to promotion.
It remains to be seen how Leeds would respond to the bid if it was made, with other suggestions that a move had collapsed with Gnonto still at the club.
Match the valuation
The clear message from Daniel Farke this summer has been that he wants players at Elland Road this summer who want to fight for the badge of Leeds United and want to do whatever they can to attempt to return the Whites to the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites were able to receive millions to avoid any legal disputes in the sale of one of their star players.
