West Brom are interested in a season-long loan move for Benfica forward star, who has also attracted interest from several other Championship clubs
The Daily Telegraph journalist shared on Twitter that Leicester, Southampton, Hull and Watford are pursuing the Portuguese winger alongside West Brom as the race for his signature hots up
Gouveia spent last season on loan at Portuguese side Estoril in the country’s top division, where he scored five goals and provided five assists from the wing in 29 appearances.
Another forward target
Gouveia can play on either wing, which is an attractive proposition for West Brom with versatility key. In what is going to be a long season as ever in the Championship, options who can fill multiple positions are always crucial, especially when they provide the talent he does.
At just 22 years old, the winger would represent excellent value for money. As much as the initial move looks like it will be a loan, the Baggies may look to make it permanent if he impresses, where he could represent high resale value as the club take a new direction in the transfer market.
The Baggies will face competition from throughout the Championship in their pursuit but will hope to bring the winger to the Hawthorns where he can be tempted with a starting role at the club.
Current West Brom winger Grady Diangana has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, with Leicester City and Leeds United interested in signing him, which would leave space for Gouveia to make the spot his own.
West Brom have been looking to deals on the cheap this summer as they must sell players in order to balance the books, so a loan move for the Portuguese winger makes plenty of sense as Carlos Corberan has called for reinforcements to his squad.
