Sunderland have reportedly joined the chase to sign Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, while other clubs eye Patrick Roberts
Sunderland have joined the race to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan from Crystal Palace, according to a report over the weekend.
The Black Cats have been touted as a potential destination for the former Chelsea youngster, who has also attracted interest from Sunderland’s Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Sunderland are keen on the 20-year-old as a potential replacement for Patrick Roberts, who is on the radar of both Celtic and Southampton – although Roberts was substituted with an injury towards the end of the Black Cats’ weekend win against Rotherham United and, depending on the severity of that problem, it may have a bearing on the situation.
Rak-Sakyi came through Chelsea’s youth system before moving across London to Selhurst Park in 2019.

The England U20 international has made two Premier League appearances for the Eagles, and spent the entirety of last season on loan at League One Charlton Athletic where he scored 15 goals in 43 outings for the Addicks and was named the club’s Player of the Year.
Palace recently secured Michael Olise on a new four-year contract with the wideman snubbing interest from Chelsea in order to stay with Roy Hodgson’s side.
But with Olise going nowhere, that could leave the door open for Rak-Sakyi to leave on loan.
Regardless of Roberts’ situation, Sunderland may look to bring in another wideman if they opt to let Costa Rican teenager Jewison Bennette leave on loan during the current transfer window – a possibility mooted by Central American journalist Kevin Jimenez, who broke the news of Bennette’s move to Wearside 12 months ago.
