The transfer guru made these claims yesterday. It was thought that Forest were edging closer to the signing of Tavares after a solid campaign on loan at Marseille last season.

Now, however, it looks as though the Reds are going to pursue other options. This comes after some claims were made that Arsenal valued him at £30 million.

Forest target Tavares signed for the Gunners ahead of the 2021/22 campaign from Benfica. He only cost them £8 million and has made just 28 appearances for the Gunners during his time in North London.

The 23-year-old was famously hooked after just 20 minutes of a 1-0 defeat for Arsenal against Forest in the FA Cup during the 2021/22 season. As a result, perhaps it’s for the best that the club have started looking at other options

Tavares will leave Arsenal this month. It was claimed last week that Forest were keen to sign him on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy him but now things have changed.

Forest are on the lookout for another left-back to come into the squad. Ola Aina has been added to the ranks but he missed Friday’s game with a minor injury.

Forest deal for Tavares is now off

It has to be said that this really isn’t the end of the world. Tavares did score six goals for Marseille last season but in the Premier League, the jury has remained out.

The Arsenal man does have a decent profile. He’s only young and would still improve but ultimately, Forest clearly don’t feel that a deal for Tavares is now right for them to complete.

Tavares will now focus on securing a move to another club this summer. He has zero chance of earning a reprieve at the Emirates Stadium and will want to get something sorted pretty quickly.

Forest will go back to the drawing board. It was always pretty clear that they wouldn’t be paying £30 million for Tavares and Arsenal will do very well to receive that fee for
