BREAKING NEWS: Newcastle blow £35m deal with Chelsea for 23-year-old talented player

Chelsea have accepted Newcastle United’s £28m bid to sell Lewis Hall

According to Fabrizio Romano, Lewis Hall is set to leave Chelsea as Newcastle United have reached an agreement with the Blues to sign the left-back on loan with an obligation to buy.

Hall, who recently signed a new six-year contract at Chelsea, will join the Magpies on a season-long loan deal and Newcastle will have an obligation to buy him permanently for £35million with add-ons.

The 18-year-old was promoted from the academy to the senior team when the Blues were short on left-back options after injuries to Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella. This saw Hall get plenty of playing time towards the end of last season under Frank Lampard.

Despite the left-back’s impressive performance last season, the club was enduring one of its poorest campaigns when both Chilwell and Marc Cucurella spent most of the time injured.

Considering the Blues have Ian Maatsen, Chilwell, and Cucurella, Hall could have seen less game time. The Dutchman especially impressed Pochettino during the pre-season tour and his career seems to have taken a turn for the better under the Argentine.

On Tyneside, Hall will also have the opportunity to play in the Champions League and can displace Dan Burn down the left-back slot. His maturity at just young age has captivated Newcastle to sign him.

It is hard to understand the reasoning behind this move from our point of view. We are signing players who fans have hardly heard of from all corners of the world. And here, we have just sold one of the most promising youngsters to have come out of Cobham.Marc Cucurella confident long-term Chelsea deal can bring best out of him | The Independent

When both Chilwell and Cucurella suffered injuries, Hall stood up and assumed responsibilities rather than crumbling under pressure. The same can be expected from the 18-year-old at Newcastle with a coach like Eddie Howe.
