DONE DEAL: HULL CITY COMPLETE THE SIGNING OF A TALENTED PLAYER ON LOAN FROM BURNLEY

The Tigers pulled off quite a transfer coup ahead of Saturday’s Ewood Park trip

Aaron Connolly admits the prospect of playing with Scott Twine is a mouthwatering proposition after the Burnley star made a long-awaited move to Hull City.

Twine bagged 20 goals and 13 assists for MK Dons before his £4m move to Turf Moor last summer. During an injury-hit season in Lancashire, the 24-year-old managed just 14 games but scored three times after missing a chunk of the campaign through injury.

Having been pursued for more than 12 months, the playmaker finally moved to the MKM Stadium on Thursday and will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn Rovers.

Connolly, who came off the bench to score in last Saturday’s thumping win over Sheffield Wednesday, believes playing with a play of Twine’s talent is something to be enthused by, particularly if the pair can strike up a fruitful relationship in the coming months.

“When I saw reports about it on social media, I was excited. One of my best friends played for MK Dons and I think Scott scored 20 goals and 13 assists (for MK), so you’ve got to be excited to play with players like that,” Connolly told Hull Live.

“The number of assists he’s got obviously perks up a striker when you see a player like that. Vincent Kompany’s not signing a player like that for no reason, he’s got a lot of talent.Hull City | The Story So Far: Scott Twine

“I’m looking forward to playing with him soon and hopefully, he can get a few more assists for myself, Liam, Oscar and Ozan. You can see his talent is there, his stats prove that. He’s played at a high level, he’s a talented player and I’m sure the group is looking forward to having him in.

“That was the pull for myself, the pull for Liam Delap. The manager is a top manager, and I think it’s the group as well. The group of players, the group of staff, it’s a welcoming place, so for any new player coming in they’ll settle in quite quickly like I did in January, and it contributed to why I was so eager to come back because it’s a great club to be at.”
