The club has issued a statement regarding David Bright’s departure

Bristol Rovers have released a statement confirming the departure of Head of Sales David Bright from the football club.

Rovers state that Bright’s exit from the club after one-and-a-half years is not linked to the delayed South Stand project.

The statement reads: “The club can today confirm that David Bright has left his role as Head of Sales.

“Contrary to inaccurate reports in the local media David’s departure has nothing to do with the South Stand project.

“The club was unable to comment at the time of reporting as David’s exit had not been finalised.

“Dave joined the club in December 2021 and was responsible for Sales, Marketing, Ticketing and Retail

“We’d like to thank David for all of his efforts during his time at the club and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Bristol Live would like to apologise for an insinuation from Friday morning’s article that Bright’s departure was related to the delays around the construction of the South Stand.

Bristol Rovers made it two 1-1 draws from their opening two League One matches of the season, holding Barnsley on Saturday afternoon at the Memorial Stadium.

It was the Gas’ first home game of the campaign with Joey Barton’s side having to wait a fortnight for their next match on their own soil with back-to-back trips to Charlton Athletic and Cambridge United to come next week.

It was a far from ideal start as former Forest Green Rovers wide man Nicky Cadden fired a fierce effort into the roof of Matt Cox’s net after just seven minutes but Rovers responded well and had two excellent opportunities to score before half-time through John Marquis and Aaron Collins.Botswana FA explain why they fired coach Major David Bright - 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers

However, the hosts, led by coach Andy Mangan for the final time with Barton’s stadium ban now served, remained dominant and eventually found their equaliser as substitute Scott Sinclair slotted home in the 81st minute. Admittedly, the winger could’ve had a hat-trick with two good chances following.
