Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer news from BirimghamLive with the club set to miss out on Alex Scott

Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott looks poised to sign for Bournemouth, with reports suggesting terms for the move have already been agreed.

Scott has been a target for Wolves, who have been linked with the 19-year-old since the January transfer window and reportedly had two offers knocked back this summer.

However, the club has had to tighten its belt after spending heavily in previous transfer windows, something that is likely to have been a bone of contention with Julen Lopetegui who departed as manager this week.

The Bournemouth Daily Echo reports they understand Scott is to have a medical with the Cherries after agreeing a fee. They report the deal is ‘over the £20m mark’ for a player who was a regular in the Bristol City team last season and was named the Championship’s young player of the year.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports went into more detail on the fee saying an initial £20m could be followed by more payments. They say: “Bournemouth have agreed a deal with Bristol City for midfielder Alex Scott worth £20m. We understand that package could be worth another £5m in in performance-related add ons.”

Wolves have raised around £90m from player sales this summer while so far only recruiting back up goalkeeper Tom King and right back Matt Doherty on free transfers. Lopetegui expressed concerns about spending plans at the end of last season, something he repeated last month before leaving by mutual consent on Tuesday to be replaced by Gary O’Neil. However, Wolves chairman Jeff Shi has defended the club’s policy, saying they have to comply with Financial Fair Play restrictions and also pointing out they spent heaving in January. They effectively used some of this summer’s transfer budget in that January window by spending around £75m on Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes, Matheus Cunha, Pablo Sarabia, Craig Dawson and Daniel Bentley.Newcastle And Tottenham To Battle It Out For Bristol City Midfielder Alex Scott – Independent Newspaper Nigeria
