Leeds United look to have completed the signing of Joe Rodon today as they aim to bolster their defence under Daniel Farke

The Whites are under growing pressure to get more signings through the doors in the coming days as their second game of the Championship season looms on Saturday.

Liam Cooper’s two-month injury setback means Leeds are going to require signings in the defensive department, but one looks to be through the doors.

Joe Rodon to join Leeds

After reports on Tuesday night that Leeds had agreed a deal to sign Tottenham centre-back Joe Rodon on loan for the season – per Mike McGrath – it seems as though the club have passed through the formalities of the deal.

In the midst of the chaos that ensued on Wednesday, Leeds look to have wrapped up a deal to sign the Wales centre-back, with the Evening Standard claiming that Rodon “has joined” Daniel Farke’s side:

“Tottenham defender Joe Rodon has joined Leeds United on loan until the end of the season.”

Will there be an option-to-buy?

However, despite claims yesterday that the two clubs were discussing an obligation-to-buy for Rodon at Elland Road, that doesn’t appear to be the case:

“The deal is a straight loan, with no option nor obligation at the end of the campaign, with Rodon joining the Championship club after Liam Cooper was ruled out for eight weeks with a foot injury sustained on the opening day.”

Is Joe Rodon a good signing?

Rodon is a very astute signing for us in the Championship, because he’d actually be an improvement to our defence of last season, let alone this threadbare side.

He’s in need of a fresh start after struggling to acclimatise to Spurs, after shining so much at Swansea City previously.

Rodon is a top-end Championship defender and with some time and coaching under Farke, I’d expect him to prove that alongside Pascal StruijkJoe Rodon gives insight into marking Harry Kane before Wales face England - Mirror Online
