Here’s the latest Nottingham Forest news on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Matt Turner joins
Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner.
The 29-year-old becomes Forest’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of full-back Ola Aina and Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga.
He has signed a four-year deal at the City Ground after completing his medical this week. Forest have reportedly paid £7million up front to Arsenal, with another £3m possible in add-ons.
The goalkeeper has put pen to paper on a four-year deal which will keep him tied to the Reds until 2027. Making the switch from Arsenal, he has become Forest’s third addition of the summer, following the arrivals of Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga.
The USA international spent a year with the Gunners, having joined from New England Revolution 12 months ago. He has linked up with Steve Cooper ’s squad as they prepare for the start of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, which will open with a trip to Turner’s former club on Saturday.
City Ground announcement made
Nottingham Forest’s City Ground will host an England Under-21s game later this year.
Reds ace Morgan Gibbs-White helped the Young Lions achieve Euros success this summer. And although he is no longer eligible to be involved as Lee Carsley’s side begin their qualifying campaign for the 2025 Under-21 European Championships, Trentside will play its part when Serbia are the visitors in October.
The game will take place on Thursday, October 12 (7.45pm kick-off). It will be the first time the age group have played on home soil since winning the Euros in July.

Defender exit on the cards
Defender Steve Cook looks to be closing on a move to QPR as Nottingham Forest continue to work on trimming their squad.
Cook joined the Reds from Bournemouth in January 2022 and played a key role in securing promotion to the Premier League. However, he was left out of the 25-man squad for the second half of last season as he dropped down the pecking order.
Overseeing exits remains as important as securing signings for Forest as they look to cut numbers during the transfer window. And Cook looks set to be next to depart.
