According to Wales Online, the deal could be announced as soon as this afternoon. He will become the sixth summer signing for the Bluebirds ahead of their season starting this weekend.
Bowler hasn’t enjoyed a good time of things since signing for Forest. He joined on the transfer deadline day in August 2022 but was immediately loaned out to Greek champions Olympiacos.
His time with the sister club of Forest wasn’t overly successful. A change in manager saw him fall down the pecking order and in January he was recalled and instead sent back to Blackpool on loan.
Bowler quite simply needs to play regular football. Last season saw his development stagnate somewhat and ultimately, the Reds will want to ensure his career isn’t stalling on the fringes at Forest.
Cardiff looks like a decent move for the player. Bowler can provide some trickery from the flanks, whilst the player will hope to weigh in with plenty of goals and assists during his loan spell.
Forest winger Bowler set to sign for Cardiff
It’s claimed that the Welsh outfit have fought off competition from Stoke for Bowler’s services. Things look set to be completed and this is another player off the books from a Forest perspective.
Hopefully, a few more will follow. The Reds are desperate for reinforcements, with Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga the only new additions to Steve Cooper’s squad so far this summer.
Bowler was never going to get a look in at Forest. Given that he’s now 24-years-old, he would have to be registered and the Reds simply don’t have room within their squad.
This looks like a positive move for Bowler. He knows the Championship extremely well and he will hope to play plenty of football at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The Whites have taken their former right-back on trial as they weigh up whether to sign the former Norwich City player on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old is a well-known player to the Leeds fanbase, as he came through the ranks at Elland Road, and would go on to make almost 150 appearances for the club before securing a high-profile switch to West Ham United for a reported fee which was just shy of £4 million.
The 29-year-old is back with the club he left when he was 22, and worked under Leeds’ new boss, Daniel Farke, during his stint with Norwich.
After a promising early start to his footballing career, it’s fair to say that Byram’s trajectory as a player didn’t really take off as many expected it would, with injuries restricting the impact he could make with the Hammers, and at his last club Norwich, too.
Byram managed only 36 appearances for West Hm and signed for the Canaries in 2019 on a four-year deal, where he would manage 54 games during his stint, spending much of his time at Carrow Road as cover at both left-back and right-back.
His deal expired in the summer, and it was always likely that he would be moved on, which proved to be the case, as Byram was released as part of a big clear-out by the Canaries.
He has since linked up with the Whites to maintain fitness, but has been heavily involved as part of their pre-season plans so far, mainly making appearances from the bench in Leeds’ recent outings.
