Wolves are still interested in West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell ahead of next month’s transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed finances remain a big problem at Molineux despite the sales of several first-team stars so far this summer.
Wolves have already seen a £2.5million offer for Cresswell, 33, rejected earlier in the window.
It is believed West Ham are holding out for a fee of £4million to part with the long-serving left-back.
The Midlands club have only added one player to the squad which finished last season by completing the free transfer signing of Matt Doherty.
And Wolves have targetted a deal for Cresswell on the opposite flank despite already having Jonny OttoRayan Ait-Nour, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hugo Bueno on their books.
The three-time England international is under contract for just under 12 months at the London Stadium and has been made available for transfer this summer.
He made 38 appearances totalling more than 2800 minutes of football in the 2022-23 campaign, notching three assists.
Cresswell remained David Moyes’ preferred option at left-back despite the signing of Emerson Palmieri last summer (2022), and helped West Ham lift the Europa Conference League.
He has racked up 331 appearances for the Irons since joining from Ipswich in 2014 – with 283 of those outings coming in the Premier League.
Wolves’ financial issues have been laid bare by the sales of key men like Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez and Nathan Collins this summer.
The Midlands club, who finished 13th in the 2022-23 campaign, start the new season against Man United next Monday (14 August).
