Medical claim shared as Aston Villa eye move for Jeremy Doku – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Rennes winger Jeremy Doku is unlikely to fail his medical at Aston Villa despite his multiple injury issues last season, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert assessed the 21-year-old’s fitness record in the 2022/23 campaign where he missed 11 games due to multiple setbacks.

Since 2020/21, the Belgium international has faced multiple hamstring concerns that have kept him out of action for extended periods of time.

The Express and Star reported on July 22 that despite the arrival of Moussa Diaby, Villa still want to sign the Rennes right-winger.

Speaking about his fitness record, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News“He certainly has a history of small muscular issues but nothing major.

“Even last season, despite his multiple injury issues, he went nearly four months without an injury from November to March.

“Nothing overly concerning when it comes to his medical and whether or not his transfer would be held up, in my opinion. The medical would assess for more significant issues so likely would not be an issue.

“He’s expected to pass the medical if Aston Villa end up signing him.”

Villa broke their transfer record by paying £43million to sign Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen.

Doku, while he is versatile enough to play in other positions, fancies playing off the right, much like the France international.

Thus far, the interest in the 21-year-old is not understood to be at an advanced level, but European football will mean the need to have a deeper squad.Liverpool told of 'red flag' that will put them off 'devastating' long-term transfer target - 'his issue'

Unai Emery took over mid season and guided the club to a seventh-place finish which saw them qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

In other Aston Villa news, a first-team ace has emerged as the “Master of the Dark Arts” for Unai Emery and has become the club’s most underrated player.
