Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as the Reds are reportedly in talks over a move to sign former Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from OGC Nice.
Nottingham Forest are in “concrete negotiations” over a surprise move to sign former Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
The 36-year-old is currently plying his trade with OGC Nice in France, having unexpectedly left Leicester last summer in a million-pound deal.
According to Eurosport Denmark, Forest are in “concrete negotiations” over a move for the stopper, who won the Championship, Premier League, FA Cup and Community Shield during his time in the East Midlands.
Sky Sports are reporting that “two unnamed Premier League clubs” have approached Nice over a possible move for Schmeichel. He is said to be “open to” talking to those teams ahead of a potential return to England.
It seems unlikely that Forest would sign both Dean Henderson and Kasper Schmeichel, given both men would see themselves as a certain number one. While a dean to sign Henderson from Manchester United is taking time, there is nothing else to suggest it is near collapse at this stage.
Forest have also reportedly made offers for Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner and Djordje Petrović of New England Revolution. Head coach Steve Cooper could well sign two goalkeepers this summer, though the identity of them remains to be seen.
Schmeichel has also been linked with a move to FC Copenhagen in his native Denmark, though it’s noted in reports there that such a switch could now be on the verge of collapse.
