Burnley boss Vincent Kompany was great, but it’s time for me to make my mark, says Accies star

Hamilton Accies new boy Joe McGlynn says Burnley made him the player and person he is today, so he can’t thank Clarets boss Vincent Kompany and predecessor Sean Dyche enough.

But the striker is delighted to be making his first steps in the professional game with Hamilton Accies.

Warrington-born McGlynn signed on at Turf Moor aged 12 and impressed as he made his way through the ranks before leaving this summer, aged 20.

McGlynn says it’s not just a football education he received at the Lancashire club, though, and hopes to take values on with him to Lanarkshire.

He said: “Burnley was a massive part of my life. I had been there for just under 10 years.

“There were good times and bad times, but it was mostly good there, especially with Kompany coming in over the last year or so, and I’ve learned so much off him.
