Alejo Veliz is reportedly set to sign Tottenham with documents to be exchanged with Rosario Central over the coming days.

Spurs opened talks over the Argentina U20 striker this week and quick progress seems to have been made with Fabrizio Romano reporting that he has chosen to join them.

The Italian journalist tweeted: ‘Alejo Veliz wanted Tottenham despite an approach from another top European club. Contract will be valid until June 2028.

‘Current plan is for Veliz not to be loaned out to Rosario Central. Decision will be made soon, documents to be exchanged in the next 24/48h.’

Veliz has been a target for Nottingham Forest, Roma and AC Milan in recent weeks with Rosario looking for a fee in the region of £13million.

He scored three goals in four matches for Argentina during the U20 World Cup with his work rate and intensity catching the eye of scouts.

The 6ft 2ins centre forward is only 19 but has found the net 19 times in 59 appearances for Rosario, 11 of those coming last season.
