Eddie Howe has confirmed two players will leave Newcastle United on loan.

Two Newcastle United players are set to leave on loan in the coming days.

As confirmed by head coach Eddie Howe, Harrison Ashby will join Championship side Swansea City for the duration of the 2023-24 campaign and Garang Kuol is expected to link up with Eredivisie side FC Volendam.

Ashby registered his first minutes for Eddie Howe’s first-team this pre-season since completing his £3million move from West Ham United in January. The 21-year-old featured at Gateshead and Rangers, and also against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion in the US Premier League Summer Series.

Along with the rest of his Newcastle United teammates, Ashby arrived back in North East on Sunday but travelled south less than 48 hours later to undergo his medical at the Swansea.com stadium.

Swans boss Michael Duff revealed yesterday “Ashby’s in the door” and “waiting for the registration to be signed off”.

Howe, speaking ahead of this weekend’s Sela Cup at St James’ Park, added: “I think Harrison will go on loan to Swansea. I think it is crucial for his development that e play games. Certainly, I think he’s done well during pre-season but games are the next thing he needs.

“A regular run of games is something he’s never really had in his career so fingers crossed he can get that at Swansea.”

Kuol, who endured a difficult spell at Scottish Premiership side Hearts last season, hasn’t been involved in pre-season. His development will continue in the Netherlands.Newcastle United - Harrison Ashby joins Newcastle United

“I met with him yesterday and we have a good chat,” said Howe. “[I] believe he’ll be going on loan on Friday.”
