tranfer new today  centre-back and former Arsenal left-back could be in line to form an unlikely link-up in Italy, per reports.

Something of a defensive exodus could be on the cards at Tottenham this summer if suitable buyers can be found.

Indeed, the Telegraph claimed Spurs will listen to offers for Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez. Elsewhere, Sergio Reguilon is surplus to requirements, while Joe Rodon’s future is up in the air and Clement Lenglet is unlikely to be signed to a permanent deal after a sub-par loan stint.

Another facing an uncertain future is Japhet Tanganga. The 24-year-old – who can play at right-back or centre-half – spent the bulk of last season nailed to the bench.

With new manager Ange Postecoglou ditching the back five for a back four, one less centre-half will play.

What’s more, new arrivals are wanted at the heart of defence, with the likes of Micky van de Ven (Wolfsburg) and Edmond Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen) being courted.

As such, Tanganga may be squeezed out and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, a move to Serie A side Atalanta could take shape

In any case, Atalanta want to shore up their defence ahead of the new campaign and are lining up Tanganga.

Whether that would come in the form of a loan or permanent bid isn’t clear. However, what is clear is if Tanganga did move to Bergamo, he could play alongside ex-Arsenal left-back, Sead Kolasinac.

Kolasinac strikes verbal agreement with Atalanta

The 30-year-old left Arsenal in the summer of 2022 to join Marseille on a one-year deal.

Kolasinac enjoyed a bright season in France, racking up 41 appearances across all competitions and scoring four goals along the way.

However, an extension in Marseille is not on the cards and per Gianluca Di Marzio, a new chapter with Atalanta awaits.

Indeed, Di Marzio’s website reported a ‘verbal agreement’ has been struck between Kolasinac and Atalanta. Given he’ll become a free agent at midnight tonight, a transfer fee is not required.

A medical has been scheduled and barring any late drama, Kolasinac will soon be unveiled as an Atalanta player.

Whether he’s joined in Italy by Tanganga, only time will tell.
