Aston Villa are now ready to activate Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams’ release clause.

That is according to the Mail Online, who report Villa are just awaiting Adams’ green light to move forward with a move, though are not the only club on red alert.

As per the report, Adams has a release clause somewhere in the region of £25 million that became active when Leeds were relegated from the Premier League in May

Nottingham Forest, Brighton and most recently Chelsea have all also been linked with a move for Adams, who San Francisco 49ers Enterprises are keen to keep at Elland Road

Adams is still currently on the road to recovery from a hamstring injury he picked up back in March, with the 24-year-old yet to play any part under Daniel Farke.

Aston Villa ready to activate Leeds’ Adams release clause

Villa have already signed midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer but could look to strengthen their midfield options further with Tottenham Hotspur keen on Douglas Luiz.Tyler Adams - Player profile 23/24 | Transfermarkt

is currently very much first choice in that holding midfield role under Unai Emery but spent large periods of last season on the sidelines, and so are looking for competition.

Adams only made the move to Leeds just over 12 months ago from Red Bull Leipzig but was one of very few bright sparks in an otherwise miserable season for Leeds.

The USMNT captain was hailed as ‘brilliant’ by Gary Neville for his performances in the World Cup while on punditry duty with ITV (via Yorkshire Post), and losing him would be a blow.

That said, Leeds have so far been slow in terms of incomings this summer and he may well be worth moving on for that sort of money if it means they can strengthen elsewhere.
