The Eagles re-signed defensive end Tarron Jackson to their practice squad on Thursday, bringing back a familiar face. To make space for him, the team released quarterback Will Grier from the squad.
Jackson, who stands 6-2 and weighs 254 pounds, was originally drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Coastal Carolina. As a rookie, he appeared in every game, recording 17 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble across 253 defensive snaps.
In 2022, Jackson split time between the active roster and the practice squad of the NFC Champions, playing in five games, including the playoffs. He spent the entire 2023 season on the practice squad, after being cut during the final roster trim following a competitive training camp and preseason.
After his release, Jackson joined the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad, was promoted to the active roster, and then waived on October 15. He played in three games for the Panthers, logging 28 defensive snaps.
The Eagles had signed Grier in free agency this offseason. Grier, a former third-round pick of the Panthers in 2019, had worked with Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore both in Dallas and Los Angeles. He started two games for Carolina during his rookie year.
