Mark Stoops, the head football coach of Kentucky, was fired a few days after a fans call.

Kentucky Head Football Coach Mark Stoops set a new standard for Kentucky football, but he seems unable to take the Wildcats any further. Many in Big Blue Nation are feeling this after the latest loss to Vanderbilt, 20-13. It was an embarrassing game, and Stoops admits that it reflects most vividly on the coach.

There are two glaring issues for Coach Stoops that seem to be a consistent problem year after year. One is his inability to take advantage of the bye week. He is now 5-8 after a bye week, which is surprising considering you have two weeks to prepare. This week, Kentucky even took on a Vanderbilt team that didn’t have a bye and came off a huge upset of Alabama.

There is a clear sense that even with the big upset of Ole Miss earlier this season that Kentucky is regressing as a program in the last few years under Stoops. It is becoming a consistent theme that Stoops will win some random games that you didn’t expect and lose games that Kentucky was supposed to win.

This is a problem, and the mob is growing restless; more and more fans are calling for Coach Stoops to be fired.

Different X accounts pointed to different reasonings, but they all had a clear message: it’s time to move on from Stoops. Barstool Kentucky, among others, was frustrated to see Vanderbilt players kicking the Kentucky logo and taking pictures on it like they owned this field.

I think ultimately, Kentucky fans who want to see a change to the head coach position land where this X user lands with a “thanks, you’ve done your duty, but it’s time for the next person to take us higher.”
