between them in the canoe slalom, the sisters, diehard Panthers fans, have been heavily involved with the three-time reigning premiers’ preparations for their clash with the Rabbitohs, visiting the team for some words of wisdom earlier in the week.

Speaking to Nine, who broadcast the Olympics as well as the NRL, the Foxes were again front and centre during the television network’s pre-match coverage at BlueBet Stadium – however, it was Fittler’s conduct that has dominated discussion.

“Just wanted the Kiss Cam to come on!” Fittler quipped, with the elder Fox turning away and seeming uncomfortable.

“On me,” he quickly added. “It’s not happening.”

Fittler then attempted to get the interview back on track, asking Noemie whether she enjoyed the atmosphere at Bluebet Stadium.

X user Peter Kop was the first to respond to the incident, describing the comment as ‘disgusting’ and ‘pure misogyny’.

“That was absolutely disgusting comment by Brad Fittler when interviewing the Fox sisters,” Kopp wrote.

“When he commented about the kiss cam, was pure misogyny and disrespectful to these wonderful women.

“SHAME SHAME SHAME Be Better.”

Kopp later added that it was ‘misogyny at its worst’, elaborating further on the incident.

Channel Nine commentator and former great Brad Fittler has come under fire and accused of misogyny in a controversial moment while interviewing Jessica and Noemie Fox before the Penrith Panthers’ clash with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Just weeks after dominating the Olympics with three gold medals between them in the canoe slalom, the sisters, diehard Panthers fans, have been heavily involved with the three-time reigning premiers’ preparations for their clash with the Rabbitohs, visiting the team for some words of wisdom earlier in the week.

Speaking to Nine, who broadcast the Olympics as well as the NRL, the Foxes were again front and centre during the television network’s pre-match coverage at BlueBet Stadium – however, it was Fittler’s conduct that has dominated discussion.

“Had to go and check my calendar to see what year it is,” one user wrote, while another said the comment ‘made me cringe’.

Regarded as one of the NRL’s greatest players, 52-year old Fittler played 336 games for the Panthers and the Roosters between 1989 and 2004, including premierships in 1991 and 2002, the latter as Roosters captain.

He also made 31 State of Origin appearances for NSW, and at 18 years and 114 days remains the Blues’ youngest ever player; while he won three Rugby League World Cups for Australia in 1992, 1995 and 2000, the latter two as captain.

Later turning to coaching as well as media work for Channel 9, he had a checquered tenure at the helm of the Roosters between 2007 and 2009, before coaching NSW from 2018-2023, winning three of his first four series.

However, his career wasn’t without controversy; in 2009, he fined himself $10,000 while Roosters coach after being reported to police by two women as a ‘creepy man’ for trying to get into their room while drunk.

The Fox sisters have become Australian icons through their appearances at the Paris Olympics, with 30-year old Jessica defending her Olympic C1 canoe slalom gold medal and winning the K1 event for the first time, while 27-year old Noemie claimed gold medal in the first ever Olympic kayak cross event.
