This has been a massive transfer window for the Villans, with the club signing as many as eight new players.

Unai Emery focussed on adding depth to the squad as Villa will be playing in the Champions League this season, and the club have backed him properly in the market.

According to a report from Express and Star, Villa are pushing to sign Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The 24-year-old right-back has been on Villa’s radar throughout the summer and the club is now pushing hard to secure a deal for him.

RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain have shown an interest in the Feyenoord defender, and now Villa are looking to strike a £30 million for him.

Matt Maher wrote on X: “Aston Villa pushing to sign Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord ahead of Friday’s deadline. Talks ongoing for a while but injury to Matty Cash means Villa even more keen to get the deal over the line.”

Matty Cash is set to miss a month of action with a hamstring injury.

The Villa right-back sustained the injury in Saturday’s two-goal defeat against Arsenal at Villa Park in the Premier League. As a result, Villa are looking to sign a cover and they have decided to move for Geertruida instead.

Feyenoord are also working towards offering the defender a new contract, as per De Telegraaf, but Villa should move ahead of other suitors and bring him to the club if they really feel another quality full-back is required.

The final few days of the transfer window could become very interesting for Aston Villa.
