Former Penrith Panthers player Taylan May was granted bail after facing court on Sunday over one charge of an alleged Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) breach.
NSW Police confirmed in a statement to foxsports.com.au that on Saturday afternoon at about 2.50pm officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were called to Emerton Village after reports of a man allegedly breaching an ADVO.
“The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic),” the statement read.
May was initially refused bail and appeared before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday at 9.30am, where The Daily Telegraph reports it was revealed that his ADVO had been altered to allow contact with his wife.
The Telegraph also reported May had been volunterring to help a team of disabled rugby league players, with a reference from a “senior figure” at rugby league club Minchinbury Jets tendered in court.
The 23-year-old was arrested back in May over an alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife and is currently subject to the NRL’s no-fault stand-down policy until at least March 2025, when his case will next be heard.
May was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of stalking. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
May made his NRL debut for the Panthers in 2021 before parting ways with the club in July after both parties agreed to a confidential settlement
