The Washington Commanders organization was bursting with enthusiasm at the beginning of the 2023 season. Hope appeared to be on the horizon as Sam Howell was named the starting quarterback for the Commanders and Eric Bieniemy was brought on board to oversee and call offensive plays.
However, there was no difference in their real offensive output. Washington finished the regular season with eight more points than it did the year before, good for 25th place in the NFL.
Since then, Washington has undergone even more changes.
Dan Quinn has taken over as head coach in lieu of Ron Rivera. The fact that this offense now has a new play-caller and coordinator in Kliff Kingsbury and a new quarterback in Jayden Daniels—who they believe has a much better chance of sticking around—is even more significant.

Last season, in neutral situations, the Washington Commanders operated a no-huddle offense on eight percent of their plays, good for 10th-most in the NFL. But Kliff Kingsbury does things much differently.
