After spending the weekend at Davidson, the 6’0″ sophomore guard from Colgate now has Washington, Gonzaga, and Cal on his itinerary for the upcoming week.

Going back to Colgate is another choice. With the Raiders last season, the native of Seattle averaged 12.5 points per game on 39.3 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.9 steals. In his two seasons at Colgate, Smith started every one of the team’s 70 games and led his team to the NCAA Tournament in both 2023 and 2024.

The likes of Ryan Nembhard, Nolan Hickman, Khalif Battle, Steele Venters, and Dusty Stromer are starting to pile up in the Gonzaga backcourt. The most important thing is a rim protector/backup big man, not a backup point guard.

Despite being somewhat of a little man, the Patriot League Player of the Year makes up for it with his excellent basketball knowledge and capacity to improve people around him. A year under Gonzaga’s development before a possible breakout redshirt junior or senior season would be beneficial for him. Both his shot selection and the extension of his range may use some improvement.
