I AM HERE FOR MONEY NOT LOYALTY: Top defensive back rejects deal as he resigns…

Earlier this week, Khurtiss Perry, an Alabama transfer, was signed by Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry to provide coordinator Chris Marve more defensive depth. The Hokies filled the remaining free roster place for the 2024–21 season on Saturday night by adding another player to Marve’s group.

Kaleb Spencer of Miami commits to Virginia Tech via the transfer portal.
Talk about using the transfer gateway to give a unit more depth. In order to complete the roster for the fall in Blacksburg, Miami’s Kaleb Spencer committed to the Hokies on Saturday night. As a true freshman, Spencer appeared in 11 games for the Hurricanes in the previous campaign, primarily as a member of Miami’s special teams. He also saw some action at linebacker.T

Spencer, a native of Colonial Heights, Virginia, will be a part of a secondary that also features young players Jaylen Jones and Mose Phillips, as well as returners Mansoor Delane, Dorian Strong, and Jalen Stroman, when practices get underway in the summer.

Spencer is the eighth player Pry has brought in, five of whom have been on the Marve defensive end of the ball. He joins Perry, Sam Brumfield (Middle Tennessee State), Kelvin Gilliam (Oklahoma), and Aeneas Peebles (Duke) as lineman. The offensive group will be strengthened by the addition of lineman Montavious Cunningham from Georgia State and quarterback Collin Schlee from UCLA.

With the addition of the seven players who were brought in via the portal, Virginia Tech, which already had one of the deepest depth charts in the ACC, got even deeper. Both Marve and offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen should have plenty of choices in the fall on both sides of the ball. Pry is still working very hard on the site for the next season.
