According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis is anticipated to miss Games 1 and 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, which are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday. Barring any setbacks, there is hope that Porzingis will be able to make a comeback later in the series.

Since sustaining a calf injury in Game 4 of the Celtics’ first-round series against the Heat on April 29, Porzingis has not participated in any games. He was not in for the whole Boston series versus Cleveland in the second round. Al Horford has been starting in place of Porzingis after he finished Game 5 against Cleveland with 22 points, 15 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.

Wojnarowski claims that even though Porzingis has been improving and is spending more time on the floor, he still needs more time to be cleared to play.

While leading the Celtics to an NBA-high 64 victories in 57 regular-season games, Porzingis averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and shot 51.6% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc.

The winner of the Knicks-Pacers series will play Boston. 3-2, New York is up in the series.
