Stoke City have baulked at the asking price for Blackburn Rovers striker Sam Gallagher, according to a report.

The Potters are reportedly keen on the 27-year-old, along with Championship rivals Coventry City. Boss Mark Robins is in the market for a striker after losing Viktor Gyokeres to Sporting in a £20million deal.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, both Stoke and Coventry “won’t meet” the £5million asking price Blackburn have put on the forward’s head. His wages could also prove problematic too, with Gallagher said to be on a “lucrative contract” at Ewood Park.Former Premier League goalkeeper shares sympathy for Mark Travers after Bournemouth conceded nine - Dorset Live

It’s said that Stoke are keen and could return later in the window, with Blackburn potentially prepared to sell “if the price is right”. It is unclear whether Coventry will revisit their interest at a later date.
