The 17th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft belonged to the Los Angeles Lakers. It appears that the team chose to choose a prospect rather than trade the pick, contrary to what many had anticipated.

The Lakers selected guard Jalen Hood-Schifino at pick No. 17, which is an intriguing selection. He may not be a particularly excellent three-point shooter, but he is a good midrange player with solid defense and a sense for the game.

Jalen Hood-Schifino could still be dealt in the future, but if the Lakers decide to hold onto him, he has a strong possibility of developing into an outstanding guard. With a wingspan of 6’10” and a height of 6’4″, he possesses rather amazing physical attributes. His ability to defend the perimeter should guarantee that he makes an immediate impact on the squad. Due to Dennis Schroder and D’Angelo Russell’s free agency, the team is noticeably lacking a guard. Hood-Schifino might be a key member of the squad next season.

Jalen Hood-Schifino averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 33.3% from three point range during the Indiana Hoosiers’ previous season. Hopefully, he has a successful season with the Lakers, and it will be intriguing to watch how he performs in the league.
