According to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, Arizona has signed former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Markus Bailey to a one-year contract, giving the Cardinals more depth at the linebacker position.

The Bengals previously selected 27-year-old Markus Bailey out of Purdue in the sixth round in 2020. In four seasons, he has recorded 73 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and four pass deflections. Despite playing just 87 defensive snaps in the last two seasons, he has amassed 586 snaps and 20 tackles as a vital member of Cincinnati’s special team.

Earlier in the offseason, the Cardinals signed Mack Wilson Sr. to a three-year contract from New England in an effort to bolster their second-level defence. Dennis Gardeck will be the team’s third linebacker in base defence, with Wilson and Kyzir White anticipated to be the main starters at linebacker. Bailey should have a better chance of making the Cardinals squad as a reserve linebacker thanks to his special teams contributions.

On May 20, the Cardinals will start their offseason training.
