DONE DEALS: Steelers sign outstanding WR after trading to a bitter rival…

A wide receiver that the Pittsburgh Steelers fan base desired this offseason inked a contract with a bitter rival AFC team on Tuesday. Following the trade of Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, the Steelers have been connected to a number of wide receivers through free agency and trade.

In the Steelers’ trade market, Tee Higgins, DK Metcalf, and Brandon Aiyuk have all gained popularity. Roman Wilson, a standout from Michigan, was the lone significant wide receiver the Steelers acquired this offseason; Wilson was selected in the third round of the draft.

General manager Omar Khan was unwilling to meet Boyd’s demands, though. Boyd was acquired by their rival, the Tennessee Titans, for less than $5 million. (According to Over The Cap, the Steelers’ remaining cap space for the 2024 campaign is over $18 million.)

Boyd is inking a one-year contract for up to $4.5 million with the Titans, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Boyd will be coached by Brian Callahan, the Bengals’ former offensive coordinator. Callahan is in his first campaign as the Titans’ head coach.

For the 2024 season, the Titans have one of the best receiver groupings in the AFC according to paper. Will Levis, a second-year quarterback, will pass to Boyd, Calvin Ridley, Treylon Burks, and DeAndre Hopkins.

Boyd was selected by the Bengals in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2016. Over the course of his eight-year career, he has 31 touchdowns and 513 receptions for 6,000 yards. He caught 54 passes for 603 yards and one touchdown in the previous campaign.
