In an attempt to give themselves another shot at a championship, the Golden State Warriors may try to partner Stephen Curry with another elite player this winter. With rookies and first-round selections available, the Warriors may be able to acquire a star player.

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report has proposed a trade that would significantly alter Golden State’s squad by acquiring LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Favale, this transaction is expected to occur after the draft since Golden State can swap their 2025 first-round pick to the Portland Trail Blazers, who have top-four protection.

The Lakers receive: Andrew Wiggins, Gui Santos, Kevon Looney, Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, and first-round picks in 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029; also, a 2030 first-round pick that is shielded from the Nos. 21–30 selections.

James, who has to exercise his player option, goes to the Warriors.

If Golden State feels hot and bothered, it may attempt negotiating a better opportunity cost. These discussions will only take place, after all, if LeBron uses the Lakers as leverage in a trade. However, with Kuminga or Podz still on the team, the Warriors aren’t surviving such a blockbuster, Favale noted in his May 3 essay on big-time NBA moves. They should count themselves fortunate that LeBron’s influence would prevent them from bringing in Trayce Jackson-Davis and Moses Moody. And Golden State ought to contain both, if necessary.

On April 30, Lebron James tweeted about his future.
James must play more in order for the Golden State Warriors to be able to deal for him. In an interview with “SiriusXM NBA Radio,” James’ agent Rich Paul stated that he anticipates James to play the next season and that “he’s got maybe two or three years left in the tank, maybe.”

James posted an update on X on his future.

“I’ve heard and seen a lot of reports concerning my future. On April 30, James tweeted, “I’ll say it again, like I did last night.” “As of now, I’m just considering spending time with my family and friends, so I don’t know! You guys will know as soon as I find out following conversations with my family, attorney, and representation. Till then. Love.

LeBron Could Be a Good Fit Beside Stephen Curry
It would be interesting to see James and Curry together after their repeated NBA Finals matchups. Nevertheless, considering their ages—Curry just turned 36 in March—this may be their last year to do so.

Curry shot 40.8% from three-point range on 11.8 tries per game, averaging 26.4 points per game. Like James, he demonstrated statistically that he is still a top choice on a championship team.

The two will play together for the first time in a competitive environment when they compete for the USA Men’s National Team in 2024. When James made an appearance on “The Stop” in 2022, he was asked who he would like to play in the NBA. His son Bronny James was his first response, but the star player of the Golden State Warriors was his second.
