The similar request is said to have been made by star wide receiver Tee Higgins one month prior to Trey Hendrickson’s reported trade request.

According to reports, a second elite Cincinnati Bengals player wants out.

Trey Hendrickson, a three-time Pro Bowl defensive end, has asked the Bengals to trade him, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

With two years left on his current contract, Hendrickson’s income is projected to reach $15 million in 2024. However, Schefter’s story states that the 29-year-old is “looking for more long-term security than Cincinnati has been willing to offer.”

One month prior, Hendrickson’s rumoured trade request coincides with reports that star wideout Tee Higgins, who is also pursuing a long-term contract, made a similar request. The Bengals and Higgins, who was franchise-tagged in February, have not had any contract negotiations in more than a year, according to a report from Schefter on Wednesday.

Hendrickson is coming off a stellar year in which he recorded 25 quarterback hits, 16 tackles for loss, and 17.5 sacks—the second-most in the NFL.

The former first-round choice has played in 48 games during his three seasons with Cincinnati, totaling 39.5 sacks, 34 tackles for loss, and 76 quarterback hits. Over that time, he has also received all three of his Pro Bowl nominations.

In the midst of the chaos, Hendrickson’s name will undoubtedly be one to keep an eye on when the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday.
