BREAKING NEWS:Leeds United will need to shell out £15million to sign Swansea striker

Leeds United will need to shell out £15million to sign Swansea striker Joel Piroe after they joined the queue of clubs asking about him, Mail Plus reports.

The Dutchman is thought to be “certainly” leaving South Wales this summer after the Swans signed Jerry Yates from Blackpool as a replacement.

And Piroe, 23, has no shortage of interest with Everton, Southampton and Leicester City all credited with a stake in the matter.

He has scored 44 goals for Swansea in the past two seasons since moving from PSV Eindhoven, and would help fill the gap left by Rodrigo after the Spaniard left for Al-Rayyan, as well as easing the burden on Patrick Bamford.

According to Mail Plus the Whites have made an approach for information over the deal.

How much of a transfer budget the Whites have this summer remains to be seen, with only an initial £7m spent to sign Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea so far.

The new 49ers regime are thought to want to flex their financial muscles in the transfer market this summer, but time is running out and far less than might have originally been expected has been brought in through departures.

Rodrigo and Tyler Roberts are the only notable permanent exits for around £3.5m combined, and loan fees from the ever-growing exodus of players making temporary moves are unclear.

There are options to bolster the attack already in the squad but the age-old Leeds United issue is that so few are out and out strikers, which has so often left Bamford to lead the line through fitness and form struggles.

Piroe looks to have the credentials to be a very useful signing for the second tier if the hierarchy can stretch to the fee, with 41 of his Swansea goals coming in the Championship.Joel Piroe: Swansea City striker aims to keep on scoring - BBC Sport

Bringing him to Elland Road would also, in theory, weaken three league rivals in Swansea, Southampton and Leicester.

Unless Daniel Farke is looking to change the system from having a central striker it seems certain that one in the market is necessary, even allowing for young talents like Mateo Joseph coming through, and if he is affordable there would certainly be some logic in making it Piroe.
