The Kansas City Chiefs intend to win the Super Bowl for the third time in a row when the 2024 season gets underway.

They weren’t done with the coaching staff, either, as they extended defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo as well. On April 15, head coach Andy Reid said at a news conference that Rod Wilson will take over as the OLB coach going forward, following Ken Flajole’s official retirement.

Wilson is entering his sixth season with Kansas City and third season as defensive coach. Throughout his tenure with the Chiefs, he’s been tasked with coaching up different members of the team

He has experience with special teams, defensive backs, and now linebackers. Wilson is a skilled football coach who knows how to extract the best performance from his players.

From 2013 to 2016, Wilson was an assistant special teams coach, inside linebacker coach, and safety coach at Charleston Southern before signing a contract with the NFL.

The forty-two-year-old spent six years playing in the NFL before beginning his career as a collegiate coach. With one forced fumble during his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears, he concluded with 47 total tackles. mostly serving as a special teams player.

The Chiefs want to maintain continuity within their coaching staff in addition to on the football pitch.
