Recall the Senior Bowl in 2019 when Jon Gruden was plastering Raiders stickers all over the helmets of aspiring players?

When Gruden, the head coach of the Raiders at the time, and his staff were assigned to manage the North squad in Mobile, that amusing event took place. Prospects and Raiders employees were having fun when they noticed that certain player helmets had several stickers on them, some of which covered the school emblem.

It’s reasonable to imagine Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell would have had his helmet adorned with the Raiders emblem if the sticker slapping had occurred during the 2024 edition of the all-star game.

Mitchell is a throwback to vintage Silver & Black defensive backs for a team like the Las Vegas Raiders that desperately needs cornerbacks. The Toledo Rocket, who stands 6 feet 5 inches and weighs 195 pounds, possesses the collegiate production, size, speed, and physicality that were formerly associated with “Raider” players. Mitchell hits like a vintage safety, has the build of an every-down running back, and makes plays with the ball in midair like a wide receiver attempting to catch a pass.
