The Braves are considered a bidder for a pitcher from the New York Mets, following Spencer Strider’s UCL surgery.
After a sluggish start, the New York Mets have improved, winning four of their past five games. This was supposed to be a difficult season for the Mets, and for the most part, it has been.
Even if New York made the same summer moves as they did the previous season, it wouldn’t be easy to win the division in a deep National League East. But with starting pitcher Spencer Strider of the Atlanta Braves having had UCL surgery and missing the rest of the season, winning the division in 2024 might be simpler.
The Braves and baseball fans everywhere are devastated by this news, as the right-hander is among the finest in the league.
One of the ten teams’ needs, according to Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer, is a top-tier starting pitcher for Atlanta.
Rymer listed four possible suitors, one of which being the Mets’ Jose Quintana.
Quintana, 35, has thrown well in his 15 2/3 innings this season, with a 3.45 ERA. Despite having an injury in 2023 that prevented him from pitching more than 75 2/3 innings, he showed promise in the little time he did pitch, recording a 3.57 ERA.

It would be unexpected if New York traded someone to the Braves, but it is possible if the front management is seeking a return.
At the end of the season, Quintana will become a free agent, providing the Mets an incentive to trade for the left-hander.
Atlanta would suffer a severe hit in this case, but New York would support them.
